Dear friends,
National University of Singapore will be hosting the World Student
Summit 2003 (WSS 2003) in Singapore between 15th – 19th December
2003. WSS is supported by the United Nations Association of Singapore.
Tertiary students from around the world have been invited to attend
as delegates and will convene in Singapore to address issues particular
to youth.
The objectives of the World Student Summit are:
i)To initiate responsible youth action in response to global issues.
ii)To promote alternatives to conflict.
iii)To promote international dialogue and understanding.
In pursuit of these aims, there will be keynote speeches made by prominent
speakers and seminar lectures and workshops. The topics that will be
discussed are:
i)Society and Health
ii)Promoting Alternatives To Conflict
iii)Sustainable Development and the Environment
iv)Bridging the Technological Divide
v)Youth in support of the United Nations
Through the discussions and workshops, various action plans will be drafted
by the end of the Summit. These plans will be adopted such that individual
delegates and their organisations may constructively put in place inter-
national programmes with the aid of international organisations like the
United Nations and her relevant agencies.
Delegates will stay in the Prince George’s Park Residences and be treated
to an exciting social programme which includes a dinner soiree with business
associates, clubbing and a Gala Dinner. The Guest of Honour for the Gala
Dinner is His Excellency, President S.R. Nathan.
