As you know, Japan has recently been faced with catastrophic natural
disasters. It is truly a terrible global situation. Given the current state
of Japan, I believe this is a great opportunity to utilize our vast ASES
network to fundraise money for relief efforts in Japan.
I would like to announce and ask for your support in driving the first-ever
ASES Fundraising Campaign. The ASES Fundraising Campaign for Japan Earthquake
and Tsunami Relief Efforts will commence this coming Monday, March 28th and
end a month from that date, April 29th. During this time, all chapter
members, alumni, and participants are encouraged to donate funds to their
Chapters. At the end of the campaign, ASES Georgetown will collect all
chapters' funds to send the total amount to charitable organizations. Please
see the attached ASES Fundraising Campaign for Japan Relief Efforts
Information Sheet for more information!
How We Can Contribute as ASES
*
Spread the word - During the month we conduct our campaign, please ask
your members, alumni, and sponsors for their support. An ASES Fundraising
Campaign information sheet is attached so that you can easily spread the word
to your chapter participants.
*
Encourage Fundraising Campaign Participation - As Chapter Presidents,
let's encourage our members to participate - whether it is by making a
donation ourselves, providing small gifts to those who participate in the
Campaign, or by discussing entrepreneurial responses to the Japan disaster.
*
Corporate Matching Programs - ASES Stanford is currently approaching
its corporate sponsors to participate in a matching program, so that every
dollar ASES raises will be doubled. If you believe this approach would be
effective in your chapter, we encourage you to contact your local corporate
sponsors.
*
Donations - My team is currently determining donation logistics, and
will provide information on Paypal accounts and fund transfers in the next
couple weeks for you. Please let me know if you have any preferences as to
how your chapter sends its funds.
*
Provide Your Suggestions - As this is the first ASES Fundraising
Campaign, this is a starting point for our fundraising efforts going forward
and I welcome any ideas or suggestions you may have!
To me, a very important part of entrepreneurship is working together to help
those in need. It will take a long time for the nation of Japan to recover
from these calamities, but I know that our combined efforts can help Japan
slowly get back to its feet. We can use our skills and talents as global
entrepreneurs to not only show our support for fellow ASES members in Japan,
but also help those that have been affected by the tsunamis and earthquakes.
Thanks so much for your collaboration, and please feel free to contact me if
you have any questions or suggestions. ASES Georgetown is happy to coordinate
this Fundraising Campaign, and I am looking forward to working with you. I
know that ASES can make a difference!
Best regards,
Michael Wong
