10:26am: The teams do indeed have a deal of Alonso for Pomeranz, per Susan
Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle (Twitter links). It is not yet certain
whether the other two players (or others) will be involved in the final swap.
10:24am: The Athletics and Padres are “close” to striking a trade involving
several pieces, ESPN.com’s Keith Law reports on Twitter. If the deal is
finalized, Oakland will receive first baseman Yonder Alonso and southpaw
reliever Mark Rzepczynski from San Diego in exchange for lefties Drew
Pomeranz and Jose Torres.
