Huang had an encouraging debut in the D-backs system, pitching well in the
Midwest League and going to the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game in 2015. He
got a late start to his second season because of a military commitment back
home in Taiwan and never seemed to find his footing, getting shut down after
a month in the California League and not throwing particularly well when sent
back out to the short-season Northwest League.

When he's right, Huang's calling cards are his exceptional command and his
plus changeup. He throws a fringy fastball velocity-wise, around 90-91 mph,
but it plays up because he can locate it so well. He misses bats with his
outstanding changeup and does occasionally show the ability to spin a good
breaking ball, though it's very inconsistent. The D-backs feel Huang was
trying to play catchup all of 2016 and put too much pressure on himself to do
too much, taking him away from his typical gameplan.

More concerning is Huang's durability, as he's dealt with back and minor
shoulder issues in his two years with the organization. With no military
commitment this time around, there's hope he can hit the ground running in
2017 and look more like the back-end starter he was resembling during his
debut season.
