《每日電訊》報導，在可能錯失重要引援目標盧卡庫的情況下，切爾西俱樂部以
另一種方式表達了對主帥孔蒂的支持。孔蒂的同胞、意大利教練大衛˙馬佐塔
(Davide Mazzotta) 將加入藍軍教練組。
在前任助教史蒂夫˙霍蘭德成為英格蘭國家隊主帥索斯蓋特的助手後，藍軍教練
組出現了空缺。不過，馬佐塔的到來並非頂替霍蘭德的位置，他很有可能加入影片分
析和對手研究的部門，仍可能有新人將加入切爾西教練組。
球員時代曾是一名後衛的馬佐塔和孔蒂一起在萊切開始職業生涯，不過他沒有達
到孔蒂那樣的高度，職業生涯主要在三、四級聯賽度過。2016年歐洲盃期間，他們在
意大利國家隊也有合作，47歲的馬佐塔還曾在萊切擔任U17青訓教練。
雖然孔蒂和切爾西董事會的關係在曝出曼聯可能截胡盧卡庫的消息後得到了各方
關注，但馬佐塔的任命表明藍軍高層不擔心孔蒂會憤而出走。
另外，週日孔蒂回到斯坦福橋的心情也可能因魯迪格和巴卡約科的加盟而受到提
振，據稱他們二人都將在未來幾天接受切爾西的體檢。切爾西還在與尤文圖斯談判引
