Havertz grateful for Lampard guidance and looking forward to busy
Christmas period

Kai Havertz is reassured to feel the support of Frank Lampard, and he says
the fact our manager was recently a top-level footballer has helped
smoothen his adjustment to a new league and country.

Havertz signed from boyhood club Bayer Leverkusen ahead of the current
campaign, and has already racked up 16 appearances for the Blues. That
figure would have been higher were it not for the very strong Covid-19
symptoms he suffered having been infected with the virus last month.
After Saturday's defeat at Goodison Park, Havertz was one of a number of
Blues who came in for criticism. In response, Lampard urged supporters to
be patient, particularly with a player as young as the 21-year-old.
The boss no doubt recalls the doubts that surrounded him early on in his
own Chelsea playing career, and it is experiences such as those that have
helped Havertz settle.
'When you have him as a manager it makes it very easy because he lived the
same life we are living now,' explained the German. 'He knows exactly what
we think in some situations.
'It's very important to have someone who understands the Premier League.
We all know he's a legend for this club and for world football. It is very
easy to understand his philosophy. We are very honoured to play under him.'
Tonight's trip to Molineux precedes a home fixture with West Ham and then
two games in three days after Boxing Day. It is the kind of busy schedule
we have become accustomed to in this unusual season, but nonetheless
Havertz is excited to play over the festive period.
'As a kid when you are on your Christmas break you always see those
matches in the Premier League. I knew when I wanted to come here I would
have to play two games every week, and at Christmas as well.
'Sometimes in Germany you are off for two weeks, but now I am looking
forward to it. As a kid you dream of playing these matches at Christmas,
and now I can do it.'
