Everton have turned down a ￡40m offer from Chelsea for England Under-21
forward Anthony Gordon. It is understood Chelsea are likely to come back
with a higher offer in a bid to tempt Everton to sell the homegrown
21-year-old.
Well-placed sources have told BBC Sport a deal could be done in the coming
days as personal terms will not be an issue. Gordon, 21, made his Everton
debut in January 2020 and signed a five-year contract in September 2020.

Chelsea are discussing internally of new proposal for Anthony Gordon as
opening bid worth ￡40m has been rejected by Everton today. Chelsea could
try to include players in the deal as Frank Lampard wanted more than one

opportunity. Edwards recently told CFC he's taking time out. Search
ongoing - most candidates in work so appointment still likely after window

Everton value Anthony Gordon at ￡50m and were clear with Spurs and
Newcastle that they wouldn't entertain a sale unless that valuation was
met. CFC's ￡40m bid has been rejected. Chelsea considering their next
move.
Everton are keen on Armando Broja but told it's unlikely he'll be offered
as part of any permanent deal at this stage. CFC reluctant to sell, and
even if Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang arrives would prefer to loan him out.
Broja still undecided if he's prepared to go on loan again.

Lampard also really likes Billy Gilmour but has just signed Amadou Onana
and still hoping for Idrissa Gueye. Michy Batshuayi is another name EFC
may be open to if a swap-deal occurs.
Lampard doesn't currently want to enter the race (along with Celtic) for
Ross Barkley despite considering him earlier in the window. This has been
the case for a number of weeks now, even before Everton brought in other
midfielders.

Chelsea did everything in their power to try and get Michael Edwards. Not
just a case of being told he wanted a break. Multiple meetings took place.
Edwards very impressed by the project and even made an incredible job
offer. Timing not right but CFC threw everything at him.
First meaningful contact with Edwards was soon after Clearlake-Boehly took
over in June. Talks continued right up until early August. As previously
reported, CFC want to appoint a sporting director soon after the window to
be ready for January. Paul Mitchell remains keen.

Squad after loan interest has intensified in the last 24 hours. He's
getting some good offers and is now likely to leave Chelsea on a

weekend, Chelsea wanted to spend way less than this. Talks continue, as
Marcos Alonso is still part of the conversations. Tuchel, pushing for

West Ham's poor start to the new campaign has heightened the pressure on
them to increase the size of their small squad. Moyes wants a left-back to
compete with Aaron Cresswell and is interested in Emerson, who is up for
sale at Chelsea.
Emerson, who has attracted interest from Atalanta and Forest, has had his
path into the starting XI blocked by Ben Chilwell and Marc Cucurella. The
Italy international spent last season on loan at Lyon.
Chelsea have made it clear that they do not want Emerson, who joined them
from Roma in 2018, to leave on loan again. The club's new owners are keen
to bring in transfer fees and get unwanted players off their books after
spending heavily on new signings.

Chelsea are close to winning the race to sign Internazionale's
highly-rated midfielder Cesare Casadei. Nice have also targeted Casadei,
but it is understood that Chelsea are pushing to complete the signing of
the 19-year-old this week. The Stamford Bridge club have already had two
bids rejected for the youngster and are expected to be successful with
their third offer, which could be as much as ￡12m.
