Chelsea Here Chelsea There: Hudson-Odoi denied

We round up the latest action for those Chelsea players out on loan…

In the Champions League last midweek, Callum Hudson-Odoi was denied his
first Bayer Leverkusen by VAR, a foul in the build-up stopping him giving
the Germans the lead at Porto. His team-mate Patrik Schick then saw a
penalty saved before Porto netted twice to win an eventful game 2-0.

Leverkusen responded to that defeat by sacking Gerardo Seoane and
appointing former Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso. His first game in
charge ended in an emphatic 4-0 win over Schalke at home on Saturday, with
Hudson-Odoi taken off for the final few minutes for the second game
running.

The other player in action on the continent last week was Ethan Ampadu,
whose Spezia side went down 2-0 at Monza.
In England, Dujon Sterling played at left-wing back as Stoke City earned a
creditable draw at Burnley, and then switched to his more customary
right-back role for all but the closing stages of Stoke's impressive 3-1
win over league leaders Sheffield United at the weekend.

Ian Maatsen was on the bench for Burnley in that game against the Potters,
but returned to the side for their 1-0 win at Coventry on Saturday,
playing the full game. Burnley are fourth in the Championship, two points
off the top.
Also in the second tier, Nathan Baxter was in Hull's goal as they recorded
a win and a loss, beating Wigan 2-1 at home before going down 2-0 at
Huddersfield on Sunday.
Two more of our goalkeepers got minutes in League One. Lucas Bergstrom has
played every minute of Peterborough's league campaign and that continued
on Saturday, although Posh were held to a 1-1 draw by lowly Burton.
Jamie Cumming and MK Dons were beaten 2-1 at Shrewsbury. A few days
earlier, they got the better of West Ham's Under-21s in the Papa John's
Trophy, the second goal in the 2-0 win a penalty won by our own Henry
Lawrence.
