你那樣改 文法是錯的

通常"A子句,but B子句" or "A句子. But B句子."A句子不是重點，作者強調的是B句子;所以你沒寫的A句子出現了，現在的But some of....必須句意和文法都是完整的句子，就是句號結束；這句話作者寫a competition不是要跟前面句子相反，是為了再進一步解釋說明前面提到的Masquerade,所以不能獨立成句子，要用子句形式"N + that 子句"方式說明Masquerade

這裡competition應該是convention的同位語，因為competition後面的修飾子句太長所以被放到逗號後面因此that關代可省略，因為關代當關係子句的主詞可省略對不起，上面說錯了，是關代當受詞才可省略，所以此處that不可省略

七月份了。剛看了空英網站雜誌課程。原來是San DiegoComic-Con (Con:convention)http://www.comic-con.org/cci/masquerade這個Masquerade(M大寫。專有名詞)競賽是這個convention的活動之一。 只看(the) Masquerade望文生義的話無法知道這其實是個競賽("masqurade"基本上是個party)，所以另外加了", a competition that ..."來進一步說明這個Mas..其實是個"這樣子的(that子句內容)"競賽
