白宮回應網上聯署 支持港人民主訴求
早前有人在白宮辦公室網站上發起聯署，要求美國關注港人爭取民主，不要讓六四
慘劇在港再次發生，截至今日(10月1日)早上8時，得到近20萬人簽署。白宮辦公室
亦兌現過十萬人聯署就回應的承諾，今日在網站作出回應，指美國支持港人根據基
本法實現普選，也支持港人對民主之訴求。回應中也表明，普選應該讓港人有真正
的提名權。
白官發言人Josh Earnest亦表示，密切關注並支持香港民主示威行動。同時向北
京重申，希望基本法的終極目標——真普選會在香港得到兌現。Earnest亦批評大
陸為了封鎖香港示威的訊息而全面封殺Instagram。

We are watching the situation in Hong Kong closely. Around the world,
the United States supports internationally recognized fundamental
freedoms, such as freedom of peaceful assembly and freedom of
expression. We urge the Hong Kong authorities to exercise restraint,
and for protestors to express their views peacefully.
The United States supports universal suffrage in Hong Kong in
accordance with the Basic Law and we support the aspirations of the
Hong Kong people. We believe that an open society, with the highest
possible degree of autonomy and governed by the rule of law, is
essential for Hong Kong’s stability and prosperity
