Weather officials in New York are warning residents of possible flooding
after several days of heavy snow in eastern North America.

The region experienced record snowfall from Tuesday to Friday.
As much as 2.2 meters fell in the western part of New York State, leaving 13
people dead. Among the victims were residents who suffered heart attacks
while they shoveled snow.
The heavy snow has blocked roads and paralyzed rail services.
Forecasters say temperatures will rise during the weekend and reach a high of
15 degrees Celsius.

They warn that snow could melt and cause flooding.
State officials are preparing pumps, generators, and boats to prepare for the
possible disaster.
500 National Guard troops are poised to join the relief effort.
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said Americans have never seen such extreme
changes in the weather.
