Chinese authorities say their newly proposed development bank will have 57
founding member countries.
中國當局說，他們的新提出的發展銀行將有 57 個創始成員國家。
They say the countries will be eligible to help frame the basic policies of
the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, known as the AIIB.

Officials with the Chinese Finance Ministry announced on Wednesday that the
57 are made up of Southeast Asian and the Middle Eastern countries. Also
included are G7 members like Britain, Germany, France and Italy and emerging
economies such as Russia, Brazil, India and South Africa. South Korea and
Australia are also participating.
中國財政部的官員在週三宣佈，57國是由東南亞和中東地區國家所組成。也/還包括了

Japan and the United States have not applied to join the AIIB. They say the
bank's governance lacks transparency.

Taiwan applied for membership but was rejected. No reason was given by
Chinese officials.

Chinese authorities say the bank's founding members will decide on their
capital contributions and the bank's lending requirements.

China plans to conclude by the end of June an agreement to establish the
AIIB. It aims to launch the bank by the end of this year, after the founding
member countries have ratified the agreement.
