May 7, 2015—At approximately 3 p.m. today, the Department of Campus Safety at
the University of Denver received information on a threat to the community. A
campus-wide alert was sent to faculty, staff, and students regarding the situ
ation and telling anyone on campus to remain indoors. The initial report came
in regarding a male entering the Ritchie Center carrying an assault rifle. Th
is is believed to have been a computerized call, but is still being investigat
ed by Denver Police. The second report came in regarding a male near the Newma
n Center carrying a handgun. This was a call made by a member of the DU commun
ity. Both areas were searched by Denver Police and cleared.
