Do you see esport as a real sport? (results of 3664 answers)

We asked 3664 gamers that question, we found that the answers depended highly on several factors: If they watch esport, what computer games they play, age, and how much they play.

Some of the Categories only consists of the highest and the lowest mean value.
Orange: What the respondents answers to “Do you watch eSports?”
Blue: Games the respondents play
Dark blue: how much the respondents play each week
Yellow: Age
Green: Average
This is a result of 3664 respondents answering different questions. Note that the groups sizes might be a bit different from each other, but everything is significant; a couple of items are <0.005, but most of the items are <0.001. Below you can see the values and the degrees of freedom in the different Chi-square tests.

What happened in the last 6 years? The effect of eSports
It doesn’t matter where you read about eSports, all sources say the same: it grows a lot each year, and it can easily fit big stadiums around the world. This was not the case in 2011, so we reproduced a study from back then to compare.
Why do gamers play online games
Skill development and competition have highly increased! – This is most likely due to the growth of eSports, which is backed by the fact that the only motivational factor that have lost value is recreation (relaxing).
Bonus info: Young people are the most competitive, and the older you get the more you play for recreation.
