In my book I do not describe Dr. Ko as an organ broker.
在我的書中，我並未描述柯醫師是個器官掮客。
I describe him as a man of singular courage.
我形容他是一個有著獨特勇氣的人。
Dr. Ko basically admitted that he had stumbled into something terrible in
China.
柯醫師基本上承認他在中國無意間涉入了一些可怕的事情。
He was looking into the quality of care for transplant patients, elderly
people
in Taiwan who wanted to get an organ.
他當時在替器官移植病患，也就是台灣需要器官的老人，尋訪好品質的醫療照護。(好器
官的來源)
China is obviously the go-to place.
強國很明顯就是做這件事情首先會想到要尋訪的地方。
To wait in Taiwan on the list was a death sentence for somebody who
needed a new liver.
對於當時台灣需要新的肝臟的人而言，在等待名單上無異於死刑。
This is back in 2004, 2005. China is out there advertising prices,
advertising care.
這是在2004、2005那時。強國正在行銷他們的價格、行銷他們的醫療照護(器官)。
So at some point, he is in the mainland.
所以在某個時間點，他(柯p)就跑到強國去了。
And he goes to a hospital and he talks to the doctors and they go through
some sort of getting to know you process.
然後他就去了(強國的)醫院，然後他跟當地的醫生談話，然後他們就進到了某種熟識彼此
的程序中
(應酬)。
And at the end of that process, they say well look we will give your patients
from your clinic or whatever.
在這程序的尾聲，他們(強國醫)說，嘿，我們會給你的病人還是診所之類的。
We'll give them a Chines price (which is) about half the foreigner price.
我們會給他們強國價，大概就是歪國價錢的一半。
But they say we also understand your concerns about organ quality he was
looking out for his patients or his clinic.
但他們(強國醫)也說，我們瞭解你擔心(你替病患或醫院尋找的)器官的品質。
In China, you negotiate. Everybody negotiates. Politicians negotiate.
Businessman
negotiate. Doctors negotiate. My mother negotiate for the price of a banana
for
about five minutes in a Beijing market.
在中國，你談(殺)判(價)。每個人都談判。政客談判、商人談判、醫生談判。連我媽都在
北京的市場
為一根香蕉的價格噴了五分鐘口水。
And there's nothing hidden abut that or surreptitious or even evil about it.
而且這其中沒有甚麼可疑之處或邪惡的陰謀。
It is simply the way things of business is done in China.
純粹就是在中國的做事的風格。
What he was told though was something he did not expect.
而他(柯p)被告知的是一些他始料未及的事情。
Doctor Ko was basically told these are you don't have to worry about the
quality
of these organs.
柯醫師被告知不需要擔心這些器官的品質。
Because they are Falun Gong.
因為他們來自法輪功。
These are people they don't drink.
法輪功人不喝酒。
They don't smoke.
不抽菸。
They practice very healthy Chi Gong.
還練對身體非常健康的氣功。
Well everybody knows the Falun Gong are arrested with no ...
嗯，大家都知道法輪功常被逮捕不須...
Often aren't arrested at all.
常根本沒被逮捕。
They just simply disapper.
他們就人間蒸發了。
They were taken in.
他們被帶走。
Everybody knows they're being tortured.
大家都知道他們被刑求。
I mean this is not a secret in Taiwan.
我的意思是這在台灣根本不是秘密。
This was an appalling things, a terrible thing that he'd walked into.
這是令人震驚的、可佈的事情，柯p就這樣捲入惹。
Here he did something about it.
他做了些事情(來防堵)。
He created a form, an electronic form on his computer and put a lot of work
into this which Chinese would have to use, which one identify where every
organ
came from.
他創造了一個表格，一個他電腦上e化的的表格，而且下了很多功夫在上面。這個表格中
國人必須
要使用，可以辨認每個器官的來源。
He said this would only take care ninety-five percent of this problem.
