April 12 (Renewables Now) - French energy group TotalEnergies SE (EPA:TTE)
and Polish state-owned miner KGHM have teamed up to take part in the Polish
government tender for offshore wind development, which spans 11 areas in
the Polish Baltic Sea.

The companies said today they have signed a partnership to compete on a
50/50 basis in the auction scheme. The 11 areas are expected to unlock
more than 10 GW of capacity and the partners are seeking to be awarded
one or more projects.

According to the announcement, the tie-up combines TotalEnergies’ skills
in terms of offshore expertise, large-scale project management and
supply chain connections with KGHM’s knowledge of the Polish market.

The move is in line with KGHM' strategy to become climate neutral by 2050.
"We are engaged in the process of acquiring several onshore and offshore
projects. We have also submitted preliminary applications for the next
round of permits in the Baltic," said KGHM Polska Miedz SA’ management
board president Marcin Chludzinski.

Separately, SSE Renewables on Monday said it has applied for an offshore
location license for an area known as 60.E.4 in the Polish Baltic Sea.
If awarded the license, it will partner with Spain's Acciona Energia
(BME:ANE) on the project development.
