熱帶地區要發展工商文明，就是得吹冷氣。新加坡的李光耀很早就認識到這點：
Air conditioning was a most important invention for us, perhaps one of the sig
nal inventions of history. It changed the nature of civilization by making dev
elopment possible in the tropics.
Without air conditioning you can work only in the cool early-morning hours or
at dusk. The first thing I did upon becoming prime minister was to install air
conditioners in buildings where the civil service worked. This was key to pub
lic efficiency.
簡而言之，李光耀認為公務員吹冷氣工作才有效率，國家才可以發展。因此新加坡和香港
等高度發展的熱帶地區，冷氣開得特別強。
就他媽台灣最特別，天氣這麼熱還搞冷氣溫度限制。
再限制下去吼，就變成那種低效的熱帶國家啦。
