This isn't a whine-about-Dr.-Boom or buff so-and-so post. I'm genuinely
curious: If War Golem fills the vanilla-plain-card-for-X-mana (like Yeti @
4/5 for 4 and Bouderfist @ 6/7 for 6), why is War Golem a 7/7 for 7?
Shouldn't it be a 7/8 for 7, like its smaller cousins?

Here's the actual reason. There has to be a 1 mana gap between each of the
"X/X+1 for X" cards. This is why Blizz were so cautious about adding a 3 mana
3/4.
If there was a 1 mana 1/2, a 2 mana 2/3 and so on for each mana cost, there
is a fear that the game will devolve into each player playing a card that is
strictly better than the opponent's on every alternating turn.
Recall how crippling it is when your 2/3 is answered with a 3/4. The 2/3 dies
to the 3/4 and your hero power can't finish off the other minion if you're a
"deal 1 damage class". Originally, this is why we had good vanilla 2, 4 and 6
drops, but no outstanding 3, 5 or 7 drops.
As a result, minions tend to alternate between "Good stats for the cost" on
even numbers, and "Good effect for the cost" on odd numbers. This sort of
goes out the window after 7 mana.

如果出一堆生物像是1/1/2,2/2/3這樣的話
那遊戲就變成每回大家都直接打個比對方純粹更強的生物就好
你的2/3被3/4克制,假如你是1傷職業,交換後還會沒法把他弄掉絕對很幹
所以雙數費(2,4,6)的優質生物很常見,單數費(3,5,7)則否
所以趨勢就變成了雙數回合有CP值高的生物,單數回合則傾向特效生物
