我做了一個IELTS模擬考題
閱讀有一題的內文是:
Be advised that, due to the risk of viruses, students are not allowed to bring
in and use their own disks or CDs.(in computer room)
題目是
students may not use their own floppy discs in the school's computers
T or F, or Not given
我寫F 因為內文不是說不可以帶嗎 可是題目是 may not, 那不就是也有可能有可以的時候
但是答案是 T
請大家指正我吧!!! 是我判斷錯誤嗎??

在裡的may要當可不可以來理解 Ex May I have a seat?"我可不可以坐下？"

學生可能無法使用...(禮貌性用法，屬於委婉語氣)

May not就是不行的意思May not is used for permission mostly in a formal style. May not = refuse permission &forbid和可不可能沒有關係~

其實就是may = 可 may not =不可不可跟可以不的差別

想順便問問，如果說把語氣翻譯至文內用"可能無法"是不是會有所不妥?因cannot與may not差異，要如何翻譯比較恰當?原始想法是問:"請問可不可....?"答:"很抱歉，可能無法...。"因之前常翻譯文章，所以想說是否有更好翻譯方式，再麻煩大家解答(^__^)

我會翻不該cannot 不能 shouldnot 不應 maynot不該好吧好像有點應湊 我自己除非原文有在強調比較以上不然應該是會翻的差不多
