The Marlins have offered Jose Reyes a six-year, $111 million contract,
according to Enrique Rojas of ESPNDeportes.com.
If true, that should be enough to procure Reyes' signature. Miami upgraded
its initial offer to Reyes, reportedly somewhere in the range of $75-90
million over six years. The new proposal features an average of $18.5 million
annually. The Mets are willing to give Reyes a five-year contract worth
around $80 million, but perhaps Miami's generous offer might get them to make
a last-second contract upgrade in order to keep their All-Star shortstop.
