Arthur Rhodes is attempting a comeback at age 43
Arthur Rhodes, who didn’t pitch at all this year after winning the World
Series with the Cardinals in 2011, is attempting a comeback at age 43.
Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports that Rhodes “has told folks close to him
that he has not given up hope of pitching in the majors again” and the
left-handed reliever is willing to accept a minor-league contract with an
invitation to spring training.
Not many 43-year-old pitchers are still MLB-caliber, let alone 43-year-olds
who just sat out an entire season, but Rhodes was reasonably effective in
2011 and before that had an ERA under 3.00 in three straight seasons.
According to Langosch the Cardinals aren’t likely to be interested in Rhodes.
