Diamondbacks trade Kennedy to Padres
According to Heyman's colleague Danny Knobler, the Padres have been discussing the possibility of trading for Kennedy for a couple of weeks now, and that the Angels have also inquired about him. Since he finished fourth in NL Cy Young voting in 2011, Kennedy has fashioned a 4.47 ERA in 54 starts with a 1.35 WHIP. This season, the right-hander's ERA has climbed to 5.23, with a 3.5 walks per nine ratio.
The Padres are currently 8.5 games back of the Dodgers in the NL West. Their bullpen has managed a 3.36 ERA while walking fewer hitters than all but one team this year.
