在Moreland也受傷後,條子有哪些選擇來補上這個大洞呢?

So much for a steady, left-handed power hitter at first base. It was supposed
to be Prince Fielder, until surgery to repair a herniated disk ended his
season prematurely. Mitch Moreland stepped in, given the chance to start at
first base everyday, and his ankle gave out on him. He'll have surgery on
Wednesday and is out three months.
On Sunday, it's Donnie Murphy's turn. But that isn't likely to be the
long-term option this season. Jon Daniels and his crew will look external,
though one option in Kendrys Morales is now in Minnesota. So for now, the
team must figure out some internal possibilities. A few:
The most logical replacement is Jim Adduci. But the 29-year-old hurt his
finger in a rehab game on Saturday (no, I'm not kidding) and will see a hand
specialist on Monday. The club hopes it's just a jammed finger. But it was
the same finger he had surgery on earlier this season. If Adduci's finger is
OK, he would be the first baseman when he's fully healthy.
That won't be Monday, though, when the club needs to make a roster move. What
about promoted J.P. Arencibia? The catcher is batting .262 with three homers
and 10 RBIs in 18 games (65 at-bats) with Triple-A Round Rock since he was
sent down. He's played some games at first base down there, too. But I'd
promote him so that he can be the backup catcher and Chris Gimenez, who
played 12 games at first base this season in the minors, could play first.
Why not ride his hot bat for a while? That would give Washington Murphy,
Gimenez and even Robinson Chirinos in a bind to play first.
For those tweeting me: No, Joey Gallo is not an option. He was promoted to
Double-A Frisco, but isn't ready for the big leagues and hasn't played first
base. It will be interesting to see if he gets a chance to play over there at
all while he's in Frisco.
Ryan Rua at Frisco is taking ground balls at first base. Perhaps he works his
way up eventually, but doesn't appear ready to play the position now.
Adam Rosales is listed as the starting first baseman at Triple-A Round Rock.
He's hitting .270. Not sure he's the option that makes the most sense, but he
has played the position.
Those are just a few options that I could come up with right now. I'm sure
there are others. But the injuries continue to pile up and the Rangers are
having to resort to fourth and fifth options at this point. Anything is a
possibility.
