History does not bode well for teams that lose Game 1 of the World Series —
especially recently. In the past 15 years, just two teams have won the World
Series after losing Game 1. The 2009 Yankees and 2002 Angels each lost Game 1
at home before rallying to take the series. The Royals, of course, lost the
first two games of the 1985 World Series before coming back to win.
