Outgoing MLB commissioner Bud Selig will receive a salary of around
$6 million per year after he retires next month, reports ESPN.com's
Buster Olney.
Selig, 80, will step down on Jan. 25 and will be replaced by Rob Manfred,
who was given a five-year term when he was elected to the post in August.
Manfred has been Major League Baseball’s Chief Operating Officer since
September 2013. Before that, he was the Executive Vice President for
Labor Relations and Human Resources.
According to Sports Business Daily, Selig made at least $22 million in
his final year as commissioner, with some estimates placing his salary
above $30 million.
Selig officially took over as commissioner in 1998, though he has been
baseball's de facto commissioner since 1992.
