SAN FRANCISCO Tim Lincecum was optimistic that he would pitch again in 2015
when he went on the disabled list July 2.

That optimism has faded. It now appears he’s thrown his last pitch in a
Giants uniform.
The two-time Cy Young winner told the San Jose Mercury News that he sustained
a setback in his rehabilitation from hip and back injuries.

Lincecum, 31, had cortisone shots in his hips in late July, but the
discomfort has persisted, leading him to consider offseason surgery.

The hip issue is still there,” Giants manager Bruce Bochy said Sunday. “
Timmy hasn’t made the progress we would have hoped. I think he’s getting

Lincecum posted a 7-4 record with a 4.13 ERA in 15 starts this season. This
is the final season of his two-year, $35-million contract.
