final one of his 19-year playing career, as the 2016 season is currently the
last year he's under contract for the New York Yankees.
Beltran was again asked by Brian Heyman of Newsday about his plans after the
upcoming season and what he might have planned, in which, the 38-year-old,
who will be turning 39 once the season gets going in April, addressed his
future and again, didn't confirm that he was going to retire, but also didn't
rule it out either.

Just spoke with Carlos Beltran, told me he will decide after this last year
of contract whether he will retire. #Yankees
The one thing that has alluded Beltran in his 19 years as a pro is the World
Series and winning one championship in his career. He came close in 2013 as a
member of the St. Louis Cardinals, but lost in six games to the Boston Red
Sox.
Beltran was very anxious to join the Yankees after the 2013 season, signing a
3-year, $45 million deal and playing where his idol, Bernie Williams, played
his entire career. Beltran wanted to join the Yankees before the 2005 season
and was even willing to take a discount that winter to join the team, but the
Yankees opted to sign other players and Beltran ended up signing with the New
York Mets instead.
After a disappointing first season in New York, Beltran looked like his old
self in 2015, hitting .276 with 19 home runs and 67 RBI in 133 games after
hitting just .233 with 15 home runs and 49 the year before in 109 games.
Heading into 2016, Beltran is just eight home runs shy of 400 career home
runs; a milestone that he will likely accomplish at some point in the season.
Beltran is an eight time All Star and the former 1999 A.L. Rookie of the Year.
