Dahl's career-opening 17-game hit streak ties record
Rockies left fielder David Dahl tied a 75-year-old Major League record by
singling in the first inning of Thursday's 12-9 win over the Rangers,
extending his career-starting hit steak to 17 games.

The record had been held by the Reds' Chuck Aleno in 1941. Dahl's streak also
surpassed the club record of outfielder Juan Pierre, who began his career in
2000 by hitting in 16 straight games.
