Braves release Omar Infante
The Braves released veteran infielder Omar Infante on Tuesday following an
unproductive six-week stint at Triple-A Gwinnett.
In 116 plate appearances for the G-Braves, Infante hit .209 with a .226
on-base percentage and .300 slugging percentage. The Braves signed Infante on
June 30, two weeks after the Royals designated him for assignment, as a
low-risk option in case they needed a veteran infielder for the big-league
team.
Infante, 34, played for the Braves from 2008-10 and made the All-Star team in
his final season. The Braves traded Infante and Mike Dunn to the Marlins for
Dan Uggla.
