Jon Lester thanks his ‘Boston family’ for support during Cubs’ World Series run "Love y'all we appreciate it!" By Hayden Bird 3:23 PM After helping the Chicago Cubs win the franchise’s first World Series in more than a century, Jon Lester reminded Red Sox fans that he hasn’t forgotten about them either. The 32-year-old starting pitcher, who signed with Chicago following the 2014 season, helped the Cubs end the team’s 108-year title drought by posting a 2.02 earned run average over 35.2 postseason innings. It was Lester’s third career World Series title. His first two championships came in Boston, where Lester’s MLB career began. Lester thanked all of the Red Sox fans still supporting him on Monday: "I'd be remiss if I didn't thank my Boston family for all the support they showed us during this postseason run. Love y'all we appreciate it!"
