One of the best moments of last baseball season was when Chris Sale took a
pair of scissors and cut up everyone’s throwback jerseys because he didn’t
want to pitch in them. Up until now, we thought Sale shredded every last one
of the uniforms, but it appears that isn’t the case.
Former Chicago outfielder Adam Eaton was on CSN Chicago’s White Sox
and revealed that he managed to keep his 1976 jersey safe from Sale.
“I think I may have the only one that didn't get cut up,” Eaton said. “I
secretly yanked mine down when he wasn't looking, and as of right now I think
—besides the coaches; the coaches are one thing—but I want to know for sure
that I'm the only player that didn't get his cut up.”
Eaton now has the jersey squirreled away in his basement and says he’s
saving it so that Sale can sign it one day. There’s only one thing standing
in their way: Sale just got traded to the Red Sox and Eaton was dealt to the
Nationals. They won’t see each other in interleague play this year. That’s
probably for the best, though. It’s a good idea to give Sale some more time
to cool off.
Boston
Sale
