Free agent left-hander Rich Hill underwent elbow surgery in late October,
Hill told MLB.com. He’s unlikely to return to action until June, according
to a report from WEEI’s Rob Bradford, who first reported the surgery.
Hill, who will turn 40 in March, pitched to a 2.45 ERA with the Dodgers in
2019 but was limited to 13 games while dealing with a left forearm strain and
a sprained left knee. Hill is 39-19 with a 3.00 ERA in 83 games (82 starts)
since 2016. Hill missed time in 2016, 2017 and 2018 with blisters on his left
hand.
He was traded from the A's to the Dodgers at the Trade Deadline in 2016 and
became a free agent after that season, at which point he signed with Los
Angeles through 2019.
