July 31: Could an Astros reunion be in store for Verlander?
The Astros remain in the mix for Verlander, with some believing that Houston is
the ace's preferred destination, per a new report from The Athletic's Ken Rosent
hal (subscription required). Per Rosenthal, the Astros have shifted their focus
towards adding a starter (general manager Dana Brown said on Sunday that the tea
m wasn't looking to add a starter unless a move made sense), and that Verlander
could prefer a return to Houston because of his relationship with owner Jim Cran
e.
The Dodgers have also spoken to the Mets about Verlander and boast a far superio
r farm system, but any deal to Los Angeles could be halted by Verlander's no-tra
de clause.
One alternative that Rosenthal suggested was the Astros taking on more of Verlan
der's contract, which has the remaining balance of his $43.33 million this seaso
n, his $43.33 million guarantee next season and a $35 million option in 2025 tha
t becomes guaranteed if he pitches 140 innings in 2024.

大意:
據說V中本人偏好回太空人,因為他跟老闆的關係。太空人也在尋求先發投手的補強。
躲人有在跟大都會談,而且有更優秀的農場,不過去洛杉磯的交易可能會被V中拒絕。
Ken Rosenthal提出的解方:由太空人隊吃更多的錢。
