The Kwame Brown error is now over in Philadelphia,
Brown was released on Wednesday prior to the Sixers game against the Toronto
Raptors, ending his time with the Sixers in just a little over one season.
In addition to Brown, the Sixers also released back-up point guard Darrius
Morris. Taking Brown and Morris's spots on the roster will be Elliot Williams
and Lorenzo Brown, who were signed by the team on Wednesday as well.
"We wish him well," Brown said of Kwame. "I'm convinced if he can find a
career-best fitness level, he still has value."
That might be true, but Brown certainly never provided any value for the
Sixers. The former No. 1 overall pick appeared in just 22 games for the
Sixers last season, averaging 1.9 points and 3.4 rebounds.
As for Morris, head coach Brett Brown said Tony Wroten's play at point guard
recently had a lot to do with the release of Morris.
"This has been an ongoing observation," Brown said.
Morris was signed by the team this past offseason, citing his ability to get
playing time with the team as why he chose Philadelphia over other offers he
had.
He was right about getting playing time, but clearly he didn't do enough with
it to stick around.
