With the Indiana Pacers loss to the San Antonio Spurs and the
Miami Heat's winover the Toronto Raptors, Miami now holds the best
record in theEastern Conference. The Pacers have held the top mark
in the conferenceall season. When asked about losing the top spot,
Pacers All-Star center Roy Hibbert was brutally honest about his feelings:
Hibbert on losing the No. 1 seed to Miami:
"Good for them. We don't deserve it."
It’s hard to pinpoint a single reason for the Pacers’ rough month.
They traded Danny Granger for Evan Turner at the deadline,
and while Granger hadn’t been giving them much,
Turner hasn’t been as productive as they hoped he’d be and the loss
of Granger has impacted team chemistry.
They took a gamble on Andrew Bynum, who is out indefinitely with
knee soreness. George and Hibbert have both fallen off in production
since their torrid start to the season.
But more than anything, the Pacers are just burned out.
The playoffs aren’t going to be any easier for them,
and if they can’t regain home-court advantage,
a potential Eastern Conference Finals series with the Heat will put them
at a serious disadvantage.
