Spurs win Game 1 going away under sweltering conditions

one quarter at the AT&T Center. They’re shooting 53 percent with four
3-pointers to take the early six-point lead. Tim Duncan has eight points on 3
for 3 shooting, while Manu Ginobili has nine points — all on 3s — with
three assists off the bench. Also of note: Tiago Splitter blocked LeBron
james, who has seven points on seven shots.

But the Spurs are showing no ill effects, shooting 50 percent with seven
3-pointers to lead the Heat — not even going for the pun there — by five at
halftime.
Tim Duncan leads the Spurs with 15 points, followed by Manu Ginobili’s 11
and Tony Parker’s 10. Ginobili was electric in the first quarter, drilling
three 3-pointers and dishing out three assists to help stake the Spurs to
their early lead. LeBron James leads four Heat in double-figures with 13.
Down six after one, Miami pushed back in front by two with eight unanswered
points. The Spurs then scored six straight, and it’s been nip-tuck ever
since.

committing nine turnovers to push their total to 19 as Miami re-took the lead
heading into the fourth. They had four straight at one point to fuel an 8-0
Heat run that gave them their largest lead at six. LeBron James leads all
players with 23 points, while the Heat have made 10 3-pointers.

The Spurs took Game 1 of the Finals 110-95 in a game that wasn’t nearly that
close, needing a 21-7 closing surge to dig out of a four-point deficit midway
through the fourth quarter.
The air conditioning broke during the game, leading temperatures to soar into
the high 80s and low 90s. The Spurs didn’t appear impacted, but Miami
standout LeBron James had to be carried off with apparent cramps with about
four minutes to go.
The Spurs took advantage of his absence to hammer Miami down the stretch.
Danny Green fueled the run with all of his three 3-pointers and a breakaway
dunk.
Tim Duncan finished with his 156th playoff double-double, 21 points and 10
rebounds, to climb within one of Magic Johnson’s all-time record. Tony
Parker added 19 points and Manu Ginobili had 16.
James finished with 25 points in 33 minutes. There was no immediate update on
his condition.
