A possible deal involving one of the league’s premier point guards and an
up-and-coming big man have hit a snag.
The Kings were reportedly in talks with the Nets to pull off a trade
involving Deron Williams and Mason Plumlee, but talks have cooled, according
to ESPN’s Chris Broussard.
The breakdown in talks appears to have occurred over the availability of
Mason Plumlee. The second-year forward from Duke is believed to be the Kings
primary target, not Williams, a three-time All-Star. Broussard says while a
trade doesn’t appear to be on the horizon at the moment, talks are not
completely dead.
Plumlee is averaging 8.2 points and 6 rebounds per game. Williams is
averaging 15.6 points and 6.8 assists per game this season.
