It’s OK. Really. You don’t have to be embarrassed if you didn’t know who
Dwight Powell was when he was included in the Rajon Rondo trade.
當你對於Rondo交易案中被包裹近來的D.Powell一無所知時，不需要為此感到害臊，真的
這沒甚麼大不了的。
Only NBA diehards had a clue.
畢竟只有NBA的死忠支持者才對他有些許認識
And even they couldn’t have envisioned that, barely a month after the deal,
the 6-11 Powell would be a solid rotation player for the Mavericks and doing a
pretty good job of making his teammates and fans fret a little less about
losing Brandan Wright.
而且更讓人難以置信的事情是，僅僅交易過後一個月，6-11的Powell就打入了小牛的輪替陣

Granted, Powell is a rookie. He’s going to make mistakes. All rookies do.

But the last four games have featured Powell as the primary big man off the
bench behind Tyson Chandler and/or Dirk Nowitzki. He’s responded by averaging
six points and four rebounds. He pulled down 10 boards in 20 minutes against
Minnesota on Wednesday. He also didn’t back down defensively against Memphis
in the previous game when he had to battle beefy Zach Randolph.
但過去四場比賽(本文寫於公牛賽前)，Powell表現出他是Tyson Chandler和Dirk Nowitzki

Powell’s relatively slender frame notwithstanding, he has shown he’s not
afraid to mix it up physically against anybody at both ends of the court.
僅管Powell的體型和骨架對比其他內線顯得較為瘦弱(6-11 24O lbs 6.2%Body Fat)，他依
舊在球場兩端都展現出他不畏懼和任何人打肉搏戰以及肢體對抗
“He’s playing hard and he’s doing what we’re asking him to do, which is
defend, rebound and knock down open shots,” coach Rick Carlisle said. “The
game against Memphis was the first time he’s played meaningful minutes at the
[power forward] position and that was because of their size. And he did a solid
job. That was a demanding game, loud arena, great big man on the other side.

Powell clearly was not simply an add-on in the Rondo trade. The Mavericks liked
him when he worked out for them in advance of the draft last summer.

喜歡這個大個子球員。(還試訓了Powell兩次)
But before the past four games, he had played a grand total of 25 minutes all
season. He surpassed that in one game at Denver last week and has played 80
minutes over the last four games.
但在這過去四場比賽以前，他整個賽季僅出場了約25分。但在小牛讓隊內的Tyson、Dirk、
Rondo輪休的那場對戰金塊的比賽後，Powell總共出場了101分鐘
Powell said he arrived in Dallas not knowing what to expect. He knew the depth
behind Chandler and Nowitzki was lacking. He also knows the Mavericks are
likely to bring in another big man — probably veteran Jermaine O’Neal.
Powell說他不被抱著期待的來到了Dallas。他知道交易過後僅剩下Chandler和Nowitzki的小
牛欠缺內線，但他同時也知道小牛可能會追求另外一個大個子，比如小歐。
That still could happen, although there has been no new developments on that
front in the past couple of weeks.

Powell’s only concern, meanwhile, has been to prove that he’s willing to put
in the time to get better.

“You don’t come into this league expecting anything other than to work hard,”
he said. “I’m a rookie. In this situation, you got to keep working hard and
prove that you deserve it. I know there are a lot of things I have to get
better at right now in order to help this team.”

If things continue to go the way they have the last few games, Powell could
play his way into a trip to New York for All-Star Weekend. The NBA changed the
format of the Rising Stars Game for rookies and sophomore players. It will be
divided into a U.S. team and an international team.
如果Powell持續保持著前四場的表現，那或許他將有機會踏上紐約去體驗明星賽的氛圍。
Nba改變了過往新秀對抗二年級生的作法，今年是美國隊vs國際球員的年輕球員對抗模式
Powell, a Canadian, no doubt will get a long look for the international team if
he continues to get playing time.
Powell如果持續在場上作出貢獻，那身為一個加拿大籍的球員，毫無疑問的，國際球員的
選拔目光將可能注意到這位球員。
Of more immediate concern is that he continue to grow and contribute like he’s
done the last four games with his hustle.

“That’s one of the best ways I can contribute is being out there defensively
and being active, energetic and crashing the boards,” he said. “That’s kind
of my focus. He [Wright] was a great player on this team. That’s something I’
m trying to do is help fill that void.”

He’s a different kind of player than Wright. He’s not quite the high flyer or
lob-dunk artist that Wright is. But Powell appears to have a little more grit
defensively and certainly has boundless energy, which you would expect from a
23-year-old.

For now, he’s easing the concern about depth on the front line for the
Mavericks. It’s more than anybody could have expected from the “other guy”
in the Rondo trade.
