There were no golf outings on Wednesday. No torturous film sessions.
The Warriors spent the day between Games 3 and 4 doing media obligations. They
had a film session, though not as long as the one between games in Memphis,
when they were in the same spot they find themselves now.
On Wednesday night, they tried to relax.
Stephen Curry hung out at the hotel and watched a couple of movies - "Home"
and "The Divergent Series: Insurgent" - and played some video games.
"The real MVP is in town, so I got to see her for a little bit," Curry said of
his wife Ayesha (and daughter Riley - who is, of course, the media's MVP).
"You try your best," Steve Kerr said. "A lot of guys have family in town and
went out to dinner with their families. Some of our coaches went to the baseball game."
The Mariners are in town playing the Indians. Kerr passed, having dinner with
his family, including his older brother John and his wife. John Kerr, who
received a PhD in applied economics at Stanford, is a professor and associate
chair of the Department of Community Sustainability at Michigan State and made
the four-hour drive here.
Reminded that his former coach Gregg Popovich called the NBA Finals "torture,"
Kerr concurred.
"The torture is all the space between games, waiting," he said. "I have like
10 hours today to do nothing."
Kerr has also kept up with his playoffs reading program. He already read the
Pulitzer Prize winning "All the Light We Cannot See," and just finished
"The Goldfinch." Now he's started, "The Boys on the Boat," Daniel James Brown's
story of the 1936 U.S. men's Olympic rowing team.
"One thing I don't do, my TV has not been powered on since I've been in
Cleveland," Kerr said. "The only way it will go on is if I want to watch a movie."
When I told him there were lots of folks offering advice to him on TV, he
laughed, "Gosh, I should turn it on then."

Kerr was at his deadpan best when told that the NBA ruled that LeBron James'
slide tackle of Curry in the final minutes was legal and the correct call.
"Yeah, that was the correct call," Kerr said. "Slide tackling is perfectly
legal. We're going to teach it. And we'll teach traveling next year. It's
allowed."
After the laughter died down, serious question. Wasn't it strange that Curry
didn't get the foul line even once in Game 3?
"No," Kerr said. "I'm being serious now. I didn't think we deserved a lot of
trips to the line. For the most part we didn't play hard enough to get to the
line. You earn spots on the line.”
Kerr
