LeBron on Game 5 adjustments: 'We won't change our starting lineup'
Much was made of the Game 4 adjustments made by Golden State Warriors head
coach Steve Kerr. On the eve of Game 5, Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James
believes that his team might have to make adjustments of their own - but not
drastic ones.
Speaking to the media before practice on Saturday, James addressed the topic
of game-planning with regard to Sunday's pivotal game, "We're going to play
our game," as told to ESPN's Dave McMenamin. "We've gotten to this point by
playing the way we play, and we're not going to change. We'll make
adjustments throughout the game, but we won't change our starting lineup."
While James doesn't feel that major lineup changes are needed, rumblings
about certain Cavs players pining for playing time have emerged over the past
48 hours. Cavs coach David Blatt may have his work cut out for him on Sunday,
as the players he has put out on the floor as of late have appeared exhausted
from the physically taxing first few games of the series. Blatt's thoughts on
this front:
We've got a lot of experienced players on our roster, and a lot of guys have
been through these battles before ... Some of the guys have not played a
whole lot. Our results have been pretty good as we've been playing, but,
again, I believe in those guys and their ability to step in, if necessary,
and do what needs to be done.
One thing can be agreed upon, however - the two-day rest period granted to
both teams since Game 4 has been much appreciated by everyone. "Any little
rest you can get throughout the postseason run, it's like a lifeline," James
said. "For us to be able to get this extra day to mentally and physically
prepare for (Sunday) night is definitely helpful."
