Philadelphia 76ers center Jahlil Okafor will play Friday night against the
Houston Rockets, the rookie’s first game since he was involved in an alleged
assault caught on video, according to a published report.
Okafor, 19, got into an altercation outside a Boston nightclub early Thursday
morning, and footage of the incident was obtained by TMZ.com. The footage
shows him shouting at several people — using a racial slur at one point —
and then throwing one man to the ground. Okafor then punched the same man.
The Sixers will face the Rockets in Houston, with tipoff set for 8 p.m. ET.
The 76ers did not immediately return messages left by USA TODAY Sports.
“It was definitely dumb on my part,” Okafor told The Philadelphia Inquirer.
“It’s something that I am embarrassed about. I’m not happy about it at
all. But we are still going to through the process of what we are going to do.
