NBA players will probably be the first to tell you that playing basketball
professionally in the best league in the world is a pretty good gig. Once you
’ve made it, large paycheques, comfortable flights and fine dining is your
reality.
當被問到在世界頂尖的籃球殿堂打球感覺如何時，NBA球員應該會力馬跳出來這真的是一件
很棒的事，一旦你成功站上這舞台，高薪資、舒適的飛行、以及美好的食物，都會一一實
現。
The key phrase in that sentence is “once you’ve made it.” While
development leagues have come a long way since they were working towards
their NBA dreams, Jeremy Lin and Danny Green of the Toronto Raptors had it
pretty tough while playing D-League ball together about a decade ago.
然而重點是「一旦你成功」，發展聯盟已經運作有好一陣子了，在當中有許多奮鬥朝向NBA
夢想前進的球員。現在在暴龍隊的林和Danny Green，十年前也曾在發展聯盟中辛酸過。
“Everything,” said Jeremy Lin when asked what the worst part of playing one
tier below the NBA was. “It was tough because… at that time it wasn’t nice
like it is now.”
當被問到在發展聯盟打球時甚麼事情最艱辛時，林書豪回答：「一切！」「那時候的艱辛
是因為以往在發展聯盟的對待不像現在。」
The long bus rides, buying your own gear and part-time jobs weren’t the
toughest part, though. While trying to make it to the show, there were plenty
of times when the two had their egos thrown into an incinerator.
長途巴士、自己的運動用品自己買、兼差，這些都不是在發展聯盟中最辛苦的。
Lin recalled one particular day where his team arrived to the gym to find out
that their practice had been pushed back by 30 minutes. When they asked why,
they were told that they’d have to wait because a seventh-grade volleyball
team wanted to use the court for a little longer.
林回憶起曾經有一次隨隊到球館準備練習，場館告訴我們必須延後半小時才能開始練，問
了一下才知道是因為有一群7年級的排球隊員想要多練習一段時間，所以我們必須要等他們
練完才可以。
“I’m like, man, my pride, I had no pride left,” he said about the
situation while Green had himself a good laugh. “My ego is completely gone.”
「我感覺我的尊嚴一去不回了，」當他這樣說的時候一旁的Green也笑了
「我的自尊徹底消失了」
That’s just the type of pill Lin and Green had to be willing to swallow
while playing for the now-defunct Reno Bighorns. Thankfully for the pair, who
have both gone on to put together fruitful NBA careers, it was all worth it.
這種事情，是當時一起在里諾大角羊隊的林和Danny Green必須吞下去的。但現在兩人都
在NBA發展了，這些過往也算是值得了。
