眾所周知，在Kawhi Leonard正式加盟快艇以前，湖人以及速龍都有機會簽下這位總決賽

在正式官宣前，Leonard曾明確告知快艇，若想自己加盟，則需要引進另一位全明星球員
來與自己搭檔。
起初，雷霆的兩位全明星球員Russell Westbrook與Paul George都是快艇引援的目標。
據NBA知名記者Charania爆料，快艇高層也就這個問題詢問過Kawhi Leonard的意見。而可
愛明確表示自己更希望與PG13聯手，而不是威少。

“Sam, I began to hear in the days leading up to Kawhi’s commitment in the
early morning hours of July 6 that he informed the Clippers that he would
sign with them — if they were able to acquire a second star. Russell
Westbrook and Paul George became early targets, I was told, but Leonard
identified George as the player to get," Charania explained. "And once the
Clippers received word that Leonard was choosing them, they did whatever they
could to ensure his commitment stuck.”
