Michael Jordan once turned down $100,000,000 for 2-hour appearance

A $100M payday is indeed considered life-changing money for most people. But
if you’re worth $2.1 billion like basketball icon Michael Jordan, you have
the luxury of turning down such lucrative opportunities.

In an appearance on WFAN’s Boomer and Gio radio program on Sunday, MJ’s
agent David Falk shared how Michael Jordan once said no to a two-hour
appearance that would have netted him a cool $100,000,000 payout.
在星期天的廣播節目上，MJ的經紀人David Falk在節目上分享了一個有關MJ拒絕了一次只
要出席兩小時就可以賺1億鎂的機會。
“I brought him a deal three years ago for $100 million. All he had to do
was, other than giving his name and likeness, make a one two-hour appearance
to announce the deal and he turned it down,” Falk shared.

到那邊出席，兩個小時，宣布這個合約就好，但是他拒絕了，」Falk說。
“God bless him. He’s been so successful, it gives him an opportunity to do
whatever the hell he wants or not to do things he doesn’t want. I really
admire that. He’s very, very selective in the things he wants to be involved
in,” he furthered.

Even before he accumulated his now immense wealth, Michael Jordan has been
extremely picky on which brands to partner with. Jordan has lent his image to
big-time companies over the years but has also denied a lot of prospects that
do not fit in with his image.

To be fair, a $100,000,000 check for two hours of work would be a no-brainer
for almost everyone. However, money isn’t really a motivator for Michael
Jordan these days.

Apart from his numerous investments, Jordan rakes in around the same amount
annually from royalties with the Jordan Brand.

It is worth noting that Michael Jordan also opted to give his entire salary
from the Washington Wizards in 2001 to the victims of the September 11
attacks. He will also donate all his proceeds from “The Last Dance”
documentary.
