A trade package that would have seen the Los Angeles Lakers trade Russell
Westbrook and a first-rounder to the Indiana Pacers in return for Myles
Turner and Buddy Hield is currently dead, sources tell The Athletic. The
Pacers want a second first-round selection added to the deal, sources say.
Westbrook, 33, opted into his $47.1 million player option for the 2022-23
season last month. He averaged 18.5 points, 7.4 rebounds and 7.1 assists per
game last year for a Lakers team that missed the postseason.
Last week, Westbrook split with his agent of 14 years, Wasserman's Thad
Foucher, due to "irreconcilable differences.”
Turner averaged 12.9 points and 7.1 rebounds per game last season for Indiana
but missed 39 contests with a foot injury. Hield added 18.2 points a game
while shooting 36 percent from 3-point range.
