Lacob addresses looming luxury-tax bill, 'Last Dance' talk
Lacob
Warriors CEO Joe Lacob has stated in the past that the team can't continue to
afford the ballooning luxury-tax bill that comes with retaining all their
players.
But ahead of the Warriors' 2022-23 season opener Tuesday night, Lacob had a
slight change of tune when he joined "Warriors Live" on NBC Sports Bay Area.
"You have to pay for good things," Lacob told Bonta Hill, Chris Mullin and
Festus Ezeli. "That's the truth of the matter. I've always believed when it's
real estate or whether it's teams in the NBA or whatever you're doing, you
have to invest money to make money and unfortunately, it costs a lot of money
to have great players like we do, as you pointed out. We'll worry about that
salary structure later."
