It was too cold to fly back to Detroit. It was February.
It was too long of a flight, too. He’d be back this summer.
Josh Jackson stayed in Los Angeles after a 27-point loss to the Clippers and
took in some much-needed rest there during the All-Star break.

“For me, getting my 3-point percentage up a little bit,” said Jackson at
the Suns' first morning shootaround back from the break. “I think right now I
’m at like, 30, 31 and I just want have that at 34, 35 by the end of the
season. I feel like that’s a good shooting year for me. A big step up from
last year.”
Jackson was at 29.9 percent going into the All-Star break after shooting 26.3
percent from 3 his rookie year. So, raising it up four to five percentage
points seemed like a lofty goal.

After missing 10 of his first 11 3s coming back onto the court, it seemed way
too lofty, but Jackson hasn’t misfired on many since.
Jackson is shooting 38.1 percent from 3 since the break and has connected on
46.8 percent (15-of-32) of his 3s since that 1-of-11 start.
For the season, Jackson is now shooting 31.6 percent from 3.

“He’s really shown he can shoot the ball at a high clip,” Suns forward
Kelly Oubre Jr. said last week. “He’s getting better every day. He’s
hungry. He’s coming in to work and trying to be the best he can be.”
Jackson hopes he's still got that hot hand after missing three games because
of a right ankle sprain he suffered against Detroit. Jackson returned to play
30 minutes in Saturday’s home game against Memphis.

Jackson’s biggest 3 came in the Suns' last win — a wacky 138-136 overtime
victory at New Orleans.
That’s when Jackson hit a contested 3 with 1.1 seconds left to tie the game
before Devin Booker made the game-winning free throw after Alvin Gentry got
called for a technical foul for calling a timeout the Pelicans didn’t have.
“ ‘J-Jack’ hit that clutch shot,” Suns rookie 7-footer Deandre Ayton
after the overtime win. “I’m super happy for him. Somebody like him really
deserves that and it’s going to build his confidence. You can tell he’s
been putting in the work with the reps.”

They’ve since lost seven of their past eight, which includes a current
five-game skid. With Oubre out for the season (thumb) and Tyler Johnson
(sore right knee) sidelined along with TJ Warren (right ankle soreness), the
Suns could use another scorer and defender.
Jackson might be that guy, especially if he’s still hot from 3 and has his
mobility.
