hi, sorry for writing in english, I'm not using my own laptop, not
very used to the chinese typing system this laptop provides.
anyway, here is a list I strongly suggest that you should try out, some of
the perfumes belong to chypre, while some belongs to wood, fougere or
other categories.
In short, my taste of male perfume is "masculine", so I'll only write down
those I feel I really enjoy smelling on a man.
Since you're in the states, i assume it's much easier for you to find them.
You can either go to a department store, or the a shope that sells perfumes
such as Sephora, or you can order vials or samples on line.
Azzaro pour homme: my all time favourite male perfume, it's woody(maybe with
a leather note), and a clean scent like you can smell in a barber shop.
It was created in 1970s, but it's not old at all. It's a must have, IMO.
Guerlain Habit Rouge EDP, this is an interesting one. it's not too masculine,
it's even a little bit of sweet, with the scent from bergamot and citrus.
Chanel Pour Monsieur, I think what I own is an EDP... it's a typical
Chypre perfume, you get lemon verbena first, then you smell gingers,
cardamon(it's pretty obivous for me), and ends up with oakmoss. It was made in
1955, and now still a popular choice, so you see this must be a good one,
I strongly suggest you try this out.
Chanel Egoiste, I would describe it as a "angry and strange cinnamon", it
surely deserves the name "Egoiste". First impression is the strong and acid
mahogany and rosewood scent, then comes a combination of rose, cinnamon
and sandalwood, though it may contains some vanilla, but it's not
very sweet.
CD Fahrenheit, yeah yeah, cliche, I always recommand this baby to any
male who is older than 25 years old. If you enjoy gasoline notes,
some chamomiles, forest, sandalwood and musk, you will love Fahrenheit.
(But I hope you can find the older version, if the one you found was made
before 2005, then you've got it right. There are some differences between
the latest and the older ones, the older version is much better!)

Caron Le Toisieme Homme, Hermes Bel Ami(or Equipage), Caron Pour un homme(
Vanilla & Tobacca),Chanel Egoiste Concentree,
Valentino Very Valention, YSL M7(but I doubtif there's any chance to
find it again?), Thierry Mugler A*Man (if you or your gf enjoy caramel,
honey and coffee), Burberry London (this smells like Christmas),
L'instant de Guerlain pour homme Extreme (I'd like
you to find Guerlain Derby, but I enjoy L'instant as well)
