Advertisers often make extravagant promises about the products they are
trying to sell. For example, advertisers may tell you that a certain
toothpaste will not only clean your teeth, but your brilliant smile will
help you get a job and will rev up your love life. People advertise
themselves sometimes too, in a way. Someone is now trying to sell you on
believing in them. But don't expect all which is being promised - at least
not to the same extent. When you find yourself in such a position, check
out the metaphorical fine print.
