The Toronto Raptors acquired point guard Nando de Colo from the San Antonio
Spurs back in February, making him the third or fourth point guard on their
roster at the time. After re-signing Kyle Lowry to big money in the early
stages of free agency and with backup Greivis Vasquez a target for the
Raptors to re-sign soon, de Colo would still have been the third point guard
on the roster had he accepted a two-year offer from the Toronto.
That won't be the case, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports. De
Colo has reportedly turned down an offer from the Raptors and has accepted a
deal to play in Russia with CSKA Moscow.
Free-agent guard Nando de Colo turned down a two-year offer to return to the
Toronto Raptors to accept a deal with CSKA Moscow, league sources told Yahoo
Sports.
DeColo came to the Raptors in a February trade from the San Antonio Spurs,
and general manager Masai Ujiri had offered to bring him back on a deal.
Nevertheless, Colo accepted the CSKA offer on Monday.
De Colo was drafted by the Spurs back in the second round of the 2009 draft.
He didn't come over to the NBA until the 2012-13 season, playing in 72 games
at an average of just 12.8 minutes. He battled a bit for the backup point
guard position in San Antonio last season before being dealt to the Raptors
for Austin Daye. He played in 21 games for the Raptors to finish out the
2013-14 season, getting just 9.3 minutes each night. He only played four
minutes in the first round of the playoffs for Toronto.
